Max goes back to Fletcher Wood's dogs through his dam Bearfoots Four Bar X Gabby Girl. On his sire's side, he has Colorado lines. Max works the ranch and keeps problems from getting worse. He has kept a herd from going to the highway, after they broke a gate and jumped the cattle guard. He held them on the road in front of the neighbor's driveway, until Jim got home from town to give him directions on where to put them. He's moved buffalo, and the 1500 lb. Polled Herford bull. Yet, he's gentle with the cats and knows how to take it easy on the back porch, until it's time to work again. Max is a once in a life time ranch dog and companion.
